How to Block Websites in Windows Computer

Two days before I showed you how to Block websites using Mozilla Firefox and today I am going to show you how to block websites on your Windows computer with out any software.Follow  step by step guide to block websites on your windows computer.

Step 1: Go to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc and find the file “hosts” file. Open that file with Notepad. If you don’t have access to this file,please read my recent post on  how to edit hosts file in windows.

Step 3:  Under “127.0.0.1 localhost” just add another website address that you want to block on your Windows Computer.

For Example:-

127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.2 www.yahoo.com
127.0.0.3 www.facebook.com

Make sure you already removed the # symbol before 127.0.0.X, If you not removed the # symbol it is not going to work.

Step 4: Now save the file and exit. Make sure when ever you add another website, the last digit of the address 127.0.0.x should not be the same. Keep it in your mind always.

You are blocked websites on your compute now. No Popups and no error message will be given when you try to open these blocked sites. If you want to restore the access to these websites please add the # symbol in front of 127.0.0.X or just delete the entry.
