Your Profile Could Not Be Opened Correctly : Chrome Error Fix For Ubuntu,Windows And Mac

How To Fix Google chrome showing your profile could not be opened correctly
You can fix this chrome error easily y rebuilding your corrupted profile on chrome. If you not rebuild your corrupted chrome profile you will continuously get the above dialog box whenever you open your chrome browser.
For Ubuntu Users,
First of all, exit from Google chrome then Just go to your Home Folder
Now make sure you are able to view the hidden files in Ubuntu. If the hidden files view not enabled you can enable it from the view or read this article.
Now open the folder named “ .config “
Once it is opened go to “google-chrome” folder
Open the folder named ” default “
Delete the file named “Web Data”: rm -rf Web\ Data;
Start Google Chrome again and check.Your profile could not be opened correctly error should be gone.
For Windows Users
In windows also you can delete the file named “ web data “ and “Web Data-journal” which stores all the chrome personal information such as passwords,history,form data etc.Before doing anything make sure you are closing the Google chrome browser first and end all the chrome background process running on your PC.
Normally you will find the Google chrome “web-data” file and “Web Data-journal” in C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default if you are installed windows in your C drive.
You can easily open that folders from the start button,just go to the start and open the run.The run dialog box will appear immediately.just enter the following there,
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data
This is for windows XP users and For Windows Vista/ Windows 7 users can type in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\
Delete the Web-data file and restart your chrome browser and sign in again to sync all your personal chrome data such as passwords,web history, form data etc.
Chrome Stable version20.0.1132.57 already come up to fix the issue but some rare case you may be still face the profile corrupting issue, then remove your security product and try again.
For Mac OSX Users ,
- Quit Google Chrome.
- Open Terminal.
- Change directory (cd) to /Users/{user}/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default
- Delete Web Data and History files: rm -rf History*; rm -rf Web\ Data;
- Start Google Chrome as normal and the error should be gone.

Only works if the main Chrome process closes – which it won’t. So you have to reboot to do this.
Also worked for me on Ubuntu 12.04,although I had two similar files(web data&webdata journal) and was unsure of which to delete. Deleting “webdata” worked. Thanks for the cure.
